Vietnamese television aired this footage it says shows the sinking of a fishing boat by a Chinese vessel.

The incident happened near the disputed Paracel Islands in the South China Sea.

Broadcaster VTV says the footage was shot on May 26th.

Hanoi said last week a Vietnamese fishing boat had sunk after being rammed by a Chinese vessel.

China's official news agency said the boat capsized after harassing and colliding with a Chinese fishing boat.

Scores of Vietnamese and Chinese vessels have been squaring up to each other after China towed an oil rig into the waters near the disputed islands.

The rig has been anchored in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone.

China claims almost the entire South China Sea.

It's rejecting rival claims to parts of it from Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei in an increasingly heated dispute.
