Lahore: Former pace bowler and Captain of Pakistani cricket team Wasim Akram is celebrating his 48th birthday today.Wasim Akram was born on June 3, 1966 in Lahore. He started his cricket career from Islamia College Lahore, while he started playing as national team player in 1985-86 against New Zealand. He played 104 tests and 356 ODIs during his career. Wasim was one of the key players behind the World Cup 1992 win. He was given Man of the Match award in the final match against England. Wasim Akram was the first ever bowler of the game, who took 500 wickets in his career. He made 3717 runs in ODIs and 2898 runs in Test cricket during his 19 years of professional career. He did hat trick four times, while he took five wickets six times in ODIs and 25 times in Test matches. Wasim Akram took retirement from the game in 2003 and started his career as cricket commentator. He was also given ICC Hall of Fame in 2009.
