All of Me - Carlings 1997

A few months ago I received a one hour film from Hans Carling where he and his family are performing at the 1997 Espoo Jazz Festival in Finland. (Espoo is a suburb of Helsinki). The band opens with “All of Me” with some marvelous playing by the frontline musicians. The arrangement came from one of the Louis Armstrong All Stars recordings. One can easily say, “Well they just copied Louis” but in my life in music I don’t think I have ever heard any group where the frontline musicians could come that close to the All Stars sound. (Maybe trumpetplayer Irakli and his Orchestra from France became closest).
Gunhild on trumpet, Gerd on trombone, Max on clarinet, Ulf on drums and father Hans plays piano and mom Aina banjo.
