Somber vigil held for victims of Santa Barbara rampage

In this crowd of around 5,000 people, the silence spoke volumes.

The college town in Santa Barbara, California, is mourning the death of six people killed in a rampage Friday night.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHRISTIAN PEREZ, NEIGHBOR OF VICTIM, SAYING:

"Yeah, my next door neighbor was one of the victims who passed away. So it was tough this morning finding that. I'm just trying to make sense of the unsensible."

A 22-year-old named Elliot Rodger stabbed three people to death in his apartment before gunning down three more victims in Isla Vista.

Police said the killing spree ended when he turned the gun on himself, after a shootout with sheriff's deputies.

Faces were visibly solemn during a vigil that passed through the streets.
