When British pop legend Paul McCartney arrived in Japan on May 15th he looked a picture of health.

Now reports have emerged that he may be in hospital after a viral infection that's forced him to cancel his Japan and South Korea tours.

The Sankei Sports newspaper said McCartney was admitted to this hospital in Tokyo when the infection worsened, although there's no confirmation he is in hospital.

Fans waiting outside the hospital say they're worried about him.

"I was surprised at the beginning when I first heard about the cancellations of concerts but now I hear that he's hospitalised and I'm worried more about the state of Paul's illness rather than the concerts."

Organisers said on Tuesday that doctors had told McCartney, who's 71, to take complete rest.
