Cannes red carpet; "Godzilla" looks to roar

British director Mike Leigh walked the red carpet at Cannes on Thursday (May 15) as he competes to get his second Palme d'Or, the film festival's highest award.

Also climbing the famous steps were U.S. actresses Julianne Moore, Zoe Saldana and Blake Lively, who sparkled on the red carpet with a long white sequined dress.

Leigh, who has had five films in competition for the top Palme d'Or prize and won it in 1996 for 'Secrets and Lies', is presenting this year 'Mr. Turner', based on the life of English artist J.M.W. Turner.

The coveted Palme d'Or will be awarded on May 24.
