Turkey's president visited the Soma site Thursday where a coal mine explosion killed at least 282 people. He says the tragedy has deeply affected his entire country.

(SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) TURKISH PRESIDENT, ABDULLAH GUL, SAYING:

"Our pain is so big. This pain does not only belong to the people here, but to the whole Turkish nation. We are facing a very big disaster."

At least 282 people died in the incident and hopes are dimming for another 100 workers believed to still be trapped underground.

Also Thursday a mechanical digger opened another row of fresh graves at Soma's main cemetery as more burials were held for dozens of miners killed.

This is the worst industrial disaster in Turkey's history.
