Pakistan joined the United Nations immediately after its independence in 1947 – less than two years after the establishment of the UN.

One of the Key agencies of the UN is the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The UNODC Country Office based in Islamabad, Pakistan, is responsible for both domestic issues and transnational issues that affect Pakistan. UNODC has been working in various forms in Pakistan for over 35 years.

Omar Khalid Butt interviewed César Guedes, Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the program Diplomatic Enclave, in which he talked in detail about the work the UNODC is doing in Pakistan as well as the cooperation between Pakistan and the UNODC.
