Cannes readies for opening

The official poster for the 67th Cannes film festival was up on Monday (May 12) as fans started to gather on the French Riviera in the hopes of catching a glimpse of their favorite stars.

This year's poster for the festival, which always pays homage to film greats of the past, is of the Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni, who starred in Federico Fellini's classic "8½".

Movers and shakers of the film world are boarding yachts or jets to head to the once sleepy Mediterranean seaside town of Cannes for a 12-day party that also serves as a film festival, with this year's line-up heavy on drama and light on humor.

The festival gets under way on Wednesday (May 14) with 18 films showing in the main competition.

The raunchy adult comedy "Neighbors", starring Seth Rogen as a family man who moves next to a frat house, out performed expectations in kicking the superhero movie "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" off the top spot on U.S. and Canadian box office charts over the week
