Actually, very little is known about this orchestra. Besides, this denomination was used by several bands. the Bixography Forum writes: "On May 19, 1922, a group of musicians (including Ted Weems) by the name of the Mason-Dixon Seven Orchestra went into the Columbia Studios in New York and recorded (rejected) "I'm Just Wild About Harry". On May 12, 1924 a group of unidentified musicians went into the Gennett studios in Richmond, IN and recorded three numbers under the name of the Mason-Dixon Orchestra. The sheet music for the Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby composition "Laff It Off" (1924) has a photo of a "Mason-Dixon Orchestra" on the front cover." This sheet music is also included in the video. However, on this recording, made in 1929, we are hearing an outfit led by Frank Trumbauer (whose orchestral sound is very recognizable). Personnel included: Bix Beiderbecke-Andy Secrest-c/Bill Rank-tb/Izzy Friedman-cl-as/Frank Trumbauer-Cm/Charles Strickfaden-as-bar/Min Leibrook-bsx/Lennie Hayton-p/Snoozer Quinn-g/George Marsh-d.
