When Lenin's new government was presented at the end of October 1917 in newspapers and leaflets, the inhabitants of the immense Russian empire for the very first time saw a photo of the man who was to shape their future: losif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, called Stalin, 38 years old, Professional revolutionaty.
Stalin's rapid rise begins just a fewyears afterthe revolution: in 1922, he becomes secretary-general of the Bolshevik party, a Position Stalin restructured to hold enormous power.
This rise to power was:achieved against the background of the revolutionary years.
