A young woman was stabbed to death, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, in front of a lottery stand near Motoyawata Station in Ichikawa City of Japan's Chiba Prefecture. The suspect has been detained in Hachijo Island by police for questioning.

On Wednesday afternoon, Asashiori Yu, a 22-year-old unemployed woman living in Ichikawa City, was stabbed in her left side. She was taken to the hospital but doctors were unable to save her.

According to a police integration, the victim had been involved in financial disputes with two ex-boyfriends since September. The ex who allegedly killed her had been pressuring her to get back together with him. The other ex was demanding that she pay back money she owed him if she declined his proposal of marriage. The woman complained to police, and the two men were given a warning for their behavior.

On Wednesday Yu passed by Motoyawata Station in a car, along with another 35-year-old man and his 3-year-old daughter, who she was living with. While Yu was lining up for the lottery, her ex-boyfriend allegedly stabbed her to death. The suspect fled the scene and was later found running upstairs in Motoyawata Station. Police have security camera footage of his escape attempt.

On Thursday morning the police brought the suspect into custody and have began interrogating him on Hachijo Island.
