The driver and students on a school bus that ran off a bridge and into a creek in Butler County, Kansas were rescued on Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, the school bus was carrying 10 children aged 13 and under from the Douglass Unified School District.

According to NBC News, the older children helped the younger ones to climb out the bus windows.

"A lot of kids were screaming and crying," Logan Parker, a 12-year-old sixth-grader who was on the bus. "Since I was the oldest, I was helping everybody else, so I was the last one [student] out of the bus."

Logan told KSN that after climbing on top of the bus they waited up there for a rescue team for about two and a half hours.

Once at the scene, rescuers used a line and life jackets to help the children to safety.

"The water is very swift down there," Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet told CNN affiliate KWCH. "It took a little while to get everybody out. But everybody's safe, and it's a good day."

The bus driver, a man in his 60s, was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

According to reports, none of the children suffered any injuries. The bus driver suffered minor injuries and hypothermia.
