Beloved weed eating goats taken from Tokyo housing block

In a first for Japan, a public housing block in Machida, Tokyo, experimented with biological lawnmowers in the form of four friendly goats, and the results were above expectations.
The Urban Renaissance Agency (UR) carried out a weeding experiment by putting four goats out to graze at a public housing block in Machida City, Tokyo between late September and late November.
In the beginning, the residents of the housing estate expressed concern over the smelly sheep droppings. However, the four goats became fast friends to the residents as they kept eating weeds during the day and slept in tiny tents during the night.
It took two months for them to eat up all the weeds in a 5,000 square meter area. But then, sadly, when the experiment was over, residents had to say goodbye to their four legged, two horned, friends. Residents left notes and sent letters to the head of residents' association, begging to let the goats stay. They even threw a farewell party last Friday, for the goats which had won their affection.
The Urban Renaissance Agency is considering whether to expand the goat-mower program, seeing as the results have been good.
