Death toll climbs to at least 13 in worst tragedy on Everest

At least 13 sherpas died after an ice avalanche swept the lower slopes of Mount Everest, in the deadliest accident ever on the world's highest mountain. The search goes on with three still missing.
Many also work as sherpas, and they want the season to end now.
(SOUNDBITE) (Nepali) JYAGBA SHERPA SAYING:
"With yesterday's huge avalanche, in my opinion, I would feel better if all the expeditions for this year are canceled because 15 to 20 people have been killed. It would be in respect for them. If all the climbing sherpas were to do this, it would solve the problem. Plus the Nepal government should try to convince the expedition team and trekking teams as well."
The sherpas were caught in an ice slide as they were carrying equipment from Base Camp to Camp 1.
Witnesses said house-sized ice blocks came tumbling down in the first major avalanche of this year's climbing season.
