A teacher from a school in Port St. Lucie in Florida has been fired after she ordered six older students to beat up a seventh-grader and the brutal attack was caught on surveillance camera.
Teacher Dru Dehart reportedly got angry with sixth-grade student Radravious Williams after he told her that one day he wished he could "curse out his teachers.
Dehart then allegedly told the six eighth-grade boys to beat up Williams in order to teach him a lesson.
Video footage shows Dehart allegedly signalling the attack, before the boys set upon Williams in a school corridor, kicking and punching him. While also whipping him with their belts, before dragging him into a school bathroom where the relentless attack continued.
When they had finished, the boys then carried him to Dehart's classroom to make him apologize. Whereupon she reportedly said, 'I've got my eighth-grade boys on you; you're not so tough now.'
Police arrested the six boys after footage of the March 2013 attack surfaced.
Dehart was suspended from teaching following the attack and was formally fired this week at a hearing of the local school board. After the hearing Dehart's attorney said she hoped to carry on teaching.
