A Chilean woman turns herself into authorities Sunday after allegedly killing her husband and purportedly attempting to boil his remains to dispose of the body.

According to police reports, the couple got into a dispute over money when 39-year-old Roxana Valdes Cano shot her husband.

Authorities at the scene say she dismembered the body and began to boil the remains in a large pot.

Police say the body was found in pieces.

(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) POLICE CAPTAIN JUAN CARRASCO SAYING:

"There was part of the body. In this case the lower extremities and part of the upper extremities. They were partially severed. The head region was also separated from the body."

Police say that at some point during the gruesome act, she apparently changed her mind and instead decided to turn herself over to police.

The murder is under investigation.
