STORY: A fire that tore through a refugee camp in Thailand Monday (March 24) night destroyed nearly 20 bamboo shelters and severely damaged others, but no injuries were reported, according to local officials.

Almost 20 shelters were gutted and 18 more had to be dismantled to contain the fire before local firefighters were able to put it out, said Suriya Prasatbanditya, Tak provincial governor.

The governor added the fire incident has affected 200 refugees who now are residing at a temporary location.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was expected to send in materials to rebuild the shelters by next week.
