Japanese 'knicker thief' rearrested for trespassing

An unemployed Japanese man in his 60s from Kishima District Saga was busted for stealing knickers on Monday afternoon. Tetsuro Nishimura denied all charges during questioning, saying that he had no intention of stealing, adding that he was just curious what it smelt like. The suspect was released on Tuesday, but he was rearrested the same day for trespassing, according to a local newspaper.

Nishimura was discovered by a neighbour reaching for knickers hanging from a balcony in Ureshino City of Saga. Then he dashed off. Police found him as he was returning to the scene of the crime to pick up his car, and arrested him without a warrant. However, he was released after the court dropped the case because of insufficient evidence.

Police served fresh arrest warrants to him on suspicion of breaking and entering.
