Celebrations in Red square as the crowds chant "Russia, Russia."

President Vladimir Putin takes something of a victory lap after making Crimea part of Russia once again.

He says Crimea has finally returned to its "home port" of Russia

(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:

"We have done a lot together, but we will do much more, we will need to solve many tasks, but I know, I'm confident that we will overcome everything, resolve everything because we are together. Glory to Russia!"

While the West decries the action -- in Moscow they are singing the national anthem.

Moscow's seizure of Crimea has caused the most serious East-West crisis since the end of the Cold War.

Despite threats of tougher sanctions Putin is showing no signs of backing down.
