Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend St Patrick's Day Parade
- 10 years ago
Britain's Duchess of Cambridge celebrated St. Patrick's Day by presenting shamrocks to soldiers from the Irish Guards. Dressed in suitably green attire, Kate's presentation of the shamrocks is a century-old tradition first inaugurated in 1901.
However, it wasn't just soldiers who had a chance to meet the royals: the regiment's mascot, an Irish Wolfhound also received a bunch of shamrocks, which the Duchess tucked into his collar.
After the ceremony, the royal couple received a warm reception from soldiers in their dining room, before William enjoyed a few sips of Guinness, a traditional St Patrick's Day drink.
