Pakistan attack: 9 people of same family killed in Peshawar

Nine people including three children from the same family were killed by gunmen in Peshawar, Pakistan, on Wednesday (February 12).

According to the Express Tribune, the attack took place in the Budhber area on the outskirts of Peshawar at about 4:30 am. Unidentified assailants first threw hand grenades onto the house and started firing at family members as they rushed out of the house to see what happened.

The house belongs to the a man identified as Israr Ali, who was killed in the attack. One of his sons, two of his brothers and four of his nephews were also among the fatalities. The lives of the female family members were reportedly spared.

CNN reported that those killed were relatives of Zafar Khan, the chief of a local peace committee and member of a special police force. He was killed in a clash with militants last week.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
