Underwater caves discovered in Chile

These underground caves in Chile could hold clues about how our continents were formed.

Thirty-five Chilean and French researchers found the caves on Wednesday when they set up camp here on a scientific expedition in the Patagonia region.

They began exploring and to their suprise they uncovered this network of around 20 limestone caves near Diego de Almagro island.

"You can make models of the areas where the continents broke off and this could be one of those spots. It is a key place and it is here, in Chile."

But it's not for the faint hearted, the scientists had to abseil and dive to get there.

Some of the caves are 50 meters deep. And though the conditions are difficult they could see old paintings on the walls and fragments of bones on the floors. All of which could help give hints on datin
