STORY: Some 200 pro-Russian activists on Thursday tried to storm the Ukraine Security Service building in the eastern city of Donetsk.

The protesters were trying to free the city's self proclaimed pro-Russian Governor Pavel Gubarev who was arrested on Wednesday evening by Ukraine's Security Service.

Gubarev faces charges on separatism.

Scuffles broke out between the protesters and police wearing riot gear and holding shields, who managed to disperse the crowds.

There were no reports of any arrests.

Donetsk, home city of deposed president Viktor Yanukovich, has seen the most persistent pro-Moscow demonstrations.
