Little has been left behind in the southern Syrian town of Hirak.
Video obtained by Reuters shows empty streets. Buildings bear the scars of war.
The town has been at the center of a firestorm as rebels and government forces battle for control.
30,000 people once called this home. Now there are about 4,000 left.
Life is difficult.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UM FAWAZ, SYRIAN LIVING IN HIRAK, SAYING:
"The shelling is constant. Just now, 3 or 4 missiles exploded near the children. Everything is completely destroyed , they have no mercy on us. There is no food, no bread, no vegetables. There is no fuel, we have resorted to burning wood. Look at our children, they are shivering from the cold. We are barely alive."
People say there is no water or electricity.
There are no doctors and no medicine.
It's a place where little more than memories have been left behind in a conflict that has killed 140,000 people.
