Famed Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia dies

Legendary flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia has died of a heart attack in Mexico.

According to a spokesman of Algeciras, his hometown in Spain, de Lucia fell ill when spending time at a beach in Cancun in Mexico.

De Lucia, born Francisco Sanchez Gomez, was 66.

He was known as the ambassador of flamenco -vastly expanding the international audience for the traditional gypsy music, merging it with other musical styles such as jazz and classical guitar.

In honor of the virtuoso the city of Algeciras has decreed two days of official mourning.
