Fourteen-year-old Felix dreams of becoming a professional jazz musician like his late father, but his mother does not support her son's passion. When Felix earns a scholarship to a prestigious private school, he is bullied by some of his classmates and looks to music for comfort. Desperate to play in the school's jazz concert, he seeks out the aid of his father's former bandmate Bra Joe and quickly excels on the saxophone — until his mother finds out and forbids Felix from seeing Joe or playing the saxophone ever again. Will Felix win his mother over, or is he destined to live his life without music?
