Topic: Syria is Bleeding… Ummah is Sleeping…
Wake up call from the Muslim Ummah Solidarity Forum
Date: Tuesday 4th February 2014
Time: 9:00 PM
Venue: Faran Club near National Stadium
The much awaited Seminar started 25 minutes late at 9:25PM, with the recitation from Holy Quran. It was followed by anasheed by Noman Shah. Before regular Speakers could start the proceedings, a documentary was shown on the projector. It was a 20 minutes documentary on the current conditions of Syria, with the historical background right from the day one when Muslims conquered the whole region of Syria during the rule of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radhi Allah anho). The documentary left a deep impact upon the minds of the audience. It was indeed a classical documentary which brought tears in the eyes of all those who saw it.
The proceedings continued with the start of the Speeches. The first Speaker was the honorable Chief Guest Sister Yvonne Ridley (Senior British Journalist & Human Rights Activist). She spoke at length on the bloody Crises of Syria. She gave full account of how the trouble started in Syria. “Ashaab yureed isqat annidham”, the enduring chant of the Arab Spring was the phrase scratched on a partially-collapsed wall by the 18 graffiti boys in Da’ara. These 18 boys were soon picked up by the agencies. What happened later on the whole world knows.
Mrs. Ridley stressed upon the Muslims the world over, specially the audience to come forward, empty your pockets and help the oppressed Syrian brothers and sisters generously in every possible manner.
After the speech of Sister Yvonne, a ceremony was held to Present Shields to Guest Speakers and Host. The President of Muslim Ummah Solidarity Forum Mr. Ijaz Mehmood presented Shields to Mrs. Yvonne Ridley, the Chief Guest, Sayyed Munawar Hassan the Special Guest and Mr. Nadeem Iqbal the Host of the Seminar. It won’t out of place to mention that the Seminar was conceived and arranged by Muslim Ummah Solidarity Forum; where as Faran Club hosted this grand event.
The last speech was delivered by Sayyed Munawar Hassan. He threw some light on the prevailing conditions in the Muslim World especially in Syria, and urged the Muslims that they should come forward to help the distressed people of Syria. It is our religious and humanitarian responsibility. In the end he prayed collectively for the emancipation and welfare of Muslim Ummah.
Among the 800 people who attended the Seminar mostly were the businessmen, lawyers & advocates, high officials, doctors & engineers and representatives of Print and Electronic media. The Muslim Ummah Solidarity Forum arranged tables to cater Cds of the Documentary, brochures of MUSF and Article of Sister Yvonne Ridley How the Graffiti Boys ignited the Syria Revolution.
