Arctic Monkeys, Bowie earn BRIT awards, Timberlake postpones concert

The BRIT awards - the U.K.'s equivalent of the Grammys - were handed out and the Arctic Monkeys picked up the coveted best album honor. The group also beat out boy band One Direction to be named best group. One Direction did not walk away empty handed, however - they picked up the BRITs global success award.

The best British male solo artist award was won by David Bowie, thirty years after he last held the title. Absent from the ceremony, the veteran artist nominated supermodel Kate Moss to accept the prize on his behalf.

Justin Timberlake postponed his Wednesday (February 19) night concert at New York's Madison Square Garden, just hours before he was due to hit the stage. The singer cited "health reasons" as the cause for the cancellation. Timberlake rescheduled the performance for Friday (February 21) and is - so far - still set to perform at the venue on Thursday (February 20) night.
