Hailee Steinfeld is Costner's daughter in CIA action thriller

Kevin Costner is back as a CIA agent who is trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter and wife but has to accept one final assignment.

Hailee Steinfeld, who rose to fame in the Coen brothers’ 2010 hit ‘True Grit’, plays his daughter Zoey, a teenage girl unaware that her absent father is a CIA hit man who has kept her at arms length to protect her.

“She’s missing something in her life. She doesn’t know what it is. She doesn’t want to admit that anything’s wrong with her or anything’s missing. She thinks that everything is the way it should be and nothing more, nothing less. When she realises that that potential thing missing is her father she wants so badly to dive back into this relationship with him,” explains Steinfeld about her character.

Hailee Steinfeld, who is already an acclaimed actress at the age of 17 and is home schooled, says it was fun playing an ordinary teenager.

“It was a really fun thing for me to dive into and kind of explore this side of a teenager that I don’t think I am, the teenager that is going to school everyday and trying to manage the boyfriend situation and wanting to get asked to prom. It was fun sort of doing that because it’s part of the teenage world so to speak that I am not involved in, so that was fun,” says the young actress.

Co-starring Amber Heard and Connie Nielsen and co-produced by Luc Besson, ‘Three Days to Kill’ opens in the US and some European cinemas this week.
