A rare red wind warning was issued by the Met Office for northwestern Wales and the coasts of Merseyside and Lancashire on February 12, 2014. Heavy rains and strong winds gusting to Category 2 hurricane force severely affected transport networks and felled numerous trees. As of the time of upload, the event is still ongoing and damages may not be realised for a time yet.
