Anas al-Libi: leaked footage shows U.S. capture of terrorist mastermind

Terrorist mastermind Anas al-Libi, who helped orchestrate the bombings of the U.S. embassies in East Africa in 1998 that killed more than 200 people, was one of the world's most wanted terrorists. Like his former leader, Osama Bin Laden, he found that you can run but you can't hide from America.
Al-Libi was returning home after dawn prayers on Oct. 5 at 6:38 a.m when U.S. forces in a white van pulled up alongside his car. Al-Libi's escape was blocked by another car. A man with gun threw al-Libi into the white van, while other men took his vehicle. Three cars fled the scene. It took less than 30 seconds to take the al Qaeda suspect into custody.
The operation was a joint effort on the part of the CIA, the FBI and the U.S. Army's elite Delta Force.
Al-Libi is accused of playing a key role in the August 7, 1998, bombings of American embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
In 2001, Anas al-Libi was indicted by the federal court in the Southern District of New York on charges of conspiracy to kill U.S. nationals, murder, destruction of American buildings and government property and destruction of national defense utilities of the United States.
He is awaiting trial in New York, where he is being held in the special housing unit of a jail across from the federal courthouse.
