The story begins with the death of the grandmother, Rosa. She hated religion and rabbis, yet even so, she’d reserved a site in the Jewish part of the cemetery. The Rashevski family is completely lost. All of a sudden, they’re worried, no longer recognize each other and disagree all the time. They don’t know how to bury her. They already miss her, and their new lives without Rosa are only just beginning.
