Man stabs brother in neck at mother's funeral in Japan

A 45-year-old Japanese man was arrested on Tuesday for alleged attempted murder. Ayato Kokubun is accused of trying to stab his elder brother to death during their mother's funeral in Osaki Miyagi.
The 48-year-old brother sustained serious injuries and is in stable condition, despite being stabbed in the back with a 15-cm knife.
Kokubun admitted the charges during questioning, saying that he had intended to kill his elder brother. Kokubun had dressed casually to attend her mother's funeral wake. The elder brother flew into a rage when he saw Kokubun's dress and an argument began.
The brothers are said to have had a long-lasting quarrel about the management of a hot spring hotel managed by their mother while she was alive.
He also had a previous conviction for hitting his elder brother with a car last April. The brother was badly hurt in that incident.
