Hollywood star, Scarlett Johansson, has resigned from her role as a global ambassador for Oxfam.

This comes after the charity expressed disappointment at the "Lost In Translation" actor's decision to become the public face of SodaStream.

The Israel-based soda-maker has been criticised for owning a factory in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement reported in American media, Johansson's spokesman wrote that Johansson "and Oxfam have a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement."

"Oxfam believes that businesses, such as SodaStream, that operate in settlements further the ongoing poverty and denial of rights of the Palestinian communities
