Royal Garden Blues De Paris 1960 Wilbur De Paris in Antibes 1960
Here one can notice that the rhythm group plays in high tempo but the melody line is slow. What actually is created is that double the number of bars are being played. This was of course one of these De Paris specials.
Sidney De Paris plays with his ( also dented) metal mute hat for special effects. These metal hats were not available any longer after the mid seventies. Now these are made of some acrylic material with red felt on the inside.
( note: During the seventies I was able to pick one up somewhere deep on a shelf in the stockroom of a music store.
Now mine is all dented as well and I gave it away last year to a younger cornet player and good friend when I was visiting Holland. (These were very good hats)
