Helen lives in London with her children and her father. John, her husband, works in Eastern Europe for a humanitarian organization. It’s been months since he left and Helen desperately awaits his return. One morning when she is taking her children to school, Helen is killed in a car accident and becomes trapped in a halfway world between life and death. Miles away, in Eastern Europe torn apart by war, John is unaware of his wife’s death. Helen is also unaware that she’s dead. And so begins a three-day-long odyssey that will involve the whole family. The children and their grandfather have to deal with their grief. John tries to make his way home through a devastated world. And Helen, a helpless onlooker to her own life, observes her family’s grief and becomes haunted by the past. Her reconciliation with John will be the path to her liberation.
