"Gravity," "American Hustle" lead Oscar nominations

The nominations for the 86th annual Academy Awards have been announced and con-men caper "American Hustle" received ten nods, including best picture and nods for its actors, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Bradley Cooper. It also garnered a nod for its director David O. Russell.

Tying for most nods, "Gravity" also received ten nominations including best picture, best actress for Sandra Bullock and best director for Alfonso Cuaron.

Historical drama "12 Years a Slave" received nine nominations. In addition to the best picture category, it also earned nods for actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, and Lupita Nyong'o.

Six other films will be battling it out for best picture: Somali pirate tale "Captain Phillips," AIDS activist drama "Dallas Buyers Club," computer love story "Her," heartland dark comedy "Nebraska," the true story of the search for a lost son "Philomena," and the tale of financial greed "The Wolf of Wall Street."
