Ford more years as Toronto Mayor announces plans to stand for re-election

“Ford more years”. That’s the campaign slogan of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford who has announced his intention to run for office again.
He was the first candidate to put his name to the ballot when nominations opened on Thursday for the October election. It’s expected several rivals will challenge him.
But the man who last year admitted to smoking crack cocaine was in combative mood when he met reporters.
“My track record speaks for itself. We’ve got the lowest taxes than any major city in North America. You look at what we have done in this city we have created jobs. This city is absolutely booming we are building a subway. I’ve dealt with the issues that other mayors couldn’t deal with,” he contended.
Ford was the focus of global ridicule when a rant on video went viral. His admission he once smoked crack cocaine “in a drunken stupor” led to him being stripped of his mayoral powers.
He has resisted pressure to quit while supporters and opponents have urged him to enter rehab.
Just last month he was caught on camera showing less than neat footwork as he and the city council danced to Bob Marley’s One Love. October will decide if the rest of the city want to dance to his political tune.
