The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has said that Pakistan is heading towards international isolation and in addition to this it is facing a large number of grave internal threats.
He added that the present situation demands we should not look towards anyone for help and try to pay attention to solve our problems.
Mr. Hussain said that we have to get out of dilemma and make concrete plans for our future whether we want to make Pakistan a liberal and progressive state or a theocratic state. “We should fight with Taliban or hand over the country to them, “ Mr. Hussain said.
He expressed these views on the other day on the occasion of ‘Fall of Dhaka Day’ at the MQM’s International Secretariat while addressing a meeting consisting of MQM’s Rabita Committee, senators from Pakistan, members of national and provincial assembly and members of International Secretariat.
Mr. Hussain said that before the fall of Dhaka we were in collective oblivion and the rulers were steeped in hatred and prejudice. He added that rulers were busy in regional and ethnic politics for their personal gains.
“The rulers did not pay attention to the affairs of the country. Where is the country heading for? Their carelessness and negligence led us to the tragic day of December 16, 1971 when we lost our Eastern Wing and a new state Bangladesh emerged, “ Mr. Hussain said.
Mr. Hussain said that a large number of books have been written on the causes of the tragedy of East Pakistan. He deplored that the history presented to the people were based on prejudice and facts were concealed.
“Criminals were presented to us oppressed and oppressed were presented as criminals., “ Mr. Hussain said.
“We remembered the fall of Dhaka day like the previous year. I watched TV with the hope that someone would tell the real facts which caused the tragedy. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Scholars and analysts talked a lot on the day, but they did not tell the real facts. They also did not tell us how can we avoid this kind of tragedy in future, “ Mr. Hussain deplored.
“Developed nations learn from their past mistakes. They do not try to repeat the same mistakes. The question is: Did the rulers of Pakistan learn any lesson from the tragedy or not?, “ Mr. Hussain said.
“Our rulers used to claim that western country will come to help us if India attacks. Did they come to our aid? We are witnessing important change in the region. I ask with due respect to my fellow countrymen. Did they ever think that America and Iran will come closer and try to improve their relations? International analysts were predicting that America would attack Iran soon. It did not happen. I will not desire a country to attack another country. It is good thing for the world peace that relations between American and Iran are improving. We also witnessing that India, Afghanistan and Iran are coming closer.
