North Korea says Kim Jong-un's uncle executed

The once-powerful Jan Song-thaek has been branded a traitor and executed, the state news agency KCNA announced. Stripped of all his powers earlier this week, Jang was married to the sister of former leader Kim Jong-il, and was considered instrumental in consolidating power for his son. His execution is the latest move in what appears to be a significant reshuffling of people around Kim Jong-un - all aimed at solidifying power in the hands of the young leader.
