Suu Kyi says Myanmar needs reconciliation

STORY: Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi spoke about reconciliation and rule of law in her country, when she addressed an academic crowd in Australia's Monash University.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) MYANMAR OPPOSITION LEADER, AUNG SAN SUU KYI, SAYING:
"Reconciliation is greatly needed in our country. I'm speaking about reconciliation and the rule of law not just because I chair the committee for rule of law in the legislature, but I believe that rule of law is essential to genuine national reconciliation and vice versa. National reconciliation is essential if we are truly to enjoy the fruits of rule of law."
Suu Kyi, who is in Australia for a five-day visit as a guest of Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, received an honorary doctor of Laws from Melbourne's Monash University on Saturday (November 30).
