Jean-Pierre Filiu, a historian and author of many books on the Middle
East and Islam, has spent many years in Syria. He has just published a
book in French on the daily struggle of a million residents in Aleppo,
the country's second city and the largest zone under rebel control. He
speaks to Douglas Herbert.
