Rock climber dies in bee attack while mountain climbing

Mountain climbing gone wrong: Steven Johnson, 55, an experienced climber, was ascending an area of Mount Hopkins to prepare it for future climbs when he was attacked by a swarm of bees, killing him.

It wasn't until friends began posting messages on social media that people began looking for Johnson, who had been missing since May 3. Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call just after 5:00 p.m. on May 6, and found Johnson's body, covered in bee stings, hanging from the mountainside. Officials also found Johnson's dog dead from bee stings.
