Alaska fugitive runs onto frozen lake to avoid capture

Siaosi Sila, 19, was brought into custody by Alaska police after he stood in the middle of frozen Cheney Lake for hours to avoid capture.

Police received a tip off that Sila was at a home on the 1700 block of Kodiak Street in Anchorage. When they arrived to serve Sila with a warrant for violating his probation, there was no one home. However, Sila saw the police in the street as he was approaching in his car, and abandoned his vehicle to run on foot. Sila ended up in the middle of Cheney Lake, but officers didn't go after him for fear of falling in.
