Torcán are an Instrumental Traditional Irish Music group based in Cork City. Their style fuses traditional Irish Music with Jazz, Classical, Rock, Dance, and Cajun. Combining new takes on Traditional tunes, adaptations of classical pieces and with many of their own compositions, they have been performing an ever‐increasing number of high profile shows at home and abroad. As well as regular performances and corporate events in Cork City, some of the shows that they have performed at include Folk Festivals in Dublin, Cork and Waterford, the IMRO Trad Music Showcase at the Templebar TradFest 2010, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival and a stadium performance in front of an audience of thousands at Turkey's Karagöz Folk Festival. They were also headliners at the Pure Cork Folk and Trad Festival 2013. Individually the performers are well respected musicians in their own right, each of them playing in several other bands in a diverse range of genres. The Accordion Jason was one of only 19 musicians chosen from over 35,000 to perform for a gala concert for President McAleese and has also shown his versatility on a number of instruments and regularly represents Munster in the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil competitions on Accordion, Whistle, Piano and Slow Air playing.
They are also pioneering a new system of live website updates of accompanying graphics and song details for every tune, updated for mobile viewers during live gigs. They have also just finished filming a live gig for EP which has been very well received.
With a line‐up of Accordion, Fiddle, Flutes, Bodhrán Guitar and Bass they have a very strong dynamic sound guaranteed to get the crowd dancing.
