A scientist in London has developed a drug that mimics the sought after effects of alcohol without burdening people with liquor’s undesired baggage - like hangovers and addiction.

It works by targeting the same calming neurotransmitters that alcohol does, giving the feelings of being more social and relaxed.

The alcohol substitute reportedly eliminates the unfavorable effects of drinking including aggression, and can be custom mixed in various drinks.

Even better, the lead scientist says he’s come up with an antidote for his magic potion, meaning that people can party all night and then sober up immediately to safely drive home.

So, if somebody’s developed a non-teetotaling way to stop hangovers, fights, rehab, and drunk driving accidents, what’s the holdup?

According to the developer, funding has been a bit tough to come by as the alcohol industry has not been receptive to his idea.

He is currently seeking other sources of funding so the final stages of his research can go forward.

Still left to do are testing various blends on people other than himself and the development of flavors and cocktails.
