Like it or not, remakes and reboots are happening and will continue to happen, but this might be one that you can actually get behind. As we all know, Hollywood is obsessed with rebooting and remaking some of our favorite movies with various levels of success. For every Batman Begins and Casino Royale you get ten Total Recalls. So we're always weary when we hear yet another movie is getting remade. This time, it's the 1987's Hellraiser from horror master Clive Barker. The film introduced audiences to the menacing Pinhead and managed to rake in a modest $14 million at the domestic box office. Granted, not a huge amount by today's standards, but the film cost a mere $1 million to make and became a cult classic, spawning 8 sequels. So what makes this one we should actually be excited about? Good question! For starters, the script will be written by none other than Hellraiser creator himself, Clive Barker. Barker posted on his Facebook page that he has been hired by Dimension Films to write the script for the remake from a pitch he made to the studio. He promises that he will not rely on CGI effects and instead utilize practical make-up effects, something that helped make the original film such a classic. And if that's not enough to get you excited, Barker also revealed that original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley will return to reprise his role as our favorite soul harvester. No word yet on when we can expect the film to hit theaters, but who's excited to see Pinhead rise again in the Hellraiser remake and does Barker's involvement give you faith that this is one remake that could actually be good? We'd love to hear your thoughts, so hit us up on Facebook or Twitter @ClevverMovies and tell us what you think and be sure to follow us while you're there.
