We always love a press day when Kevin Feige is involved, because we usually get some pretty interesting tid bits about what Marvel is up to. Sure, they usually aren't mind blowing tid bits, but at least they're enough to tied us over.
This past week, Feige was busy promoting Thor: The Dark World in London, and the Marvel head spoke a little on some of the properties we've all been wondering about.
First up is the topic of Daredevil and Punisher. Marvel recently acquired the rights back for these two properties from Fox. And assuming that Marvel has plans to reboot them sometime soon, Bleeding Cool asked Feige about what their plans would be, since Daredevil and Punisher's themes are much darker than the lighthearted blockbusters we've seen from Marvel so far. Feige said quote "We're trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don't want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time."
Right now Marvel is putting out two movies a year, and with the line up being super packed at least until 2015. It may be quite some time before we hear any concrete plans for these projects on the big screen, although we may not want to rule out possibilities of seeing some characters showing up on television at some point.
Feige also didn't give us much hope that Marvel has any real plans for a female superhero film just yet either, telling Movies.com that there are plenty of female heroes in their cinematic universe that already get a lot of spotlight. Listing Pepper Potts, Jane Foster, and Black Widow as having a huge hero presence already.
But there are some other properties that we CAN start getting excited about. Of course, we know that James Spader will be voicing Ultron in the upcoming Avengers sequel. And Feige confirmed to ComicBookMovie that Spader will be lending more to the character than just his voice. He says that Ultron will be much more than a robot and that Joss Whedon is giving him a tremendous about of character development and that they will be capturing Spader's face and his body for what he's calling a quote "very dynamic portrayal" of the villain.
But what are the plans for Doctor Strange? Well of all the rumored Marvel projects, Doctor Strange seems like it may be one we will likely see sooner than later because Feige told Comic Book Movie that it's in active development as we speak. He said quote "Whether that's one of the movies we announce for 2016 or 2017, we have to see. I think it'll be the middle of next year before we announce officially what the post Ant-Man films will be."
So, I know this is a lot of Marvel talk, but what do you think about these updates from Kevin Feige? Which properties do you think will make it into Phase 3?
