India stampede toll rises

The number of people killed in a stampede on this bridge in central India has risen to at least 115.

Sunday's lethal crush happened as Hindu pilgrims crossing the bridge to a remote temple panicked when railings began to break up.

More than 100 others have been injured in the crush outside the town of Datia in Madhya Pradesh.

A day after the stampede more pilgrims were making their way across the same bridge, still littered with the belongings of the victims.

It was the second deadly crush at the spot in seven years.

Police are investigating the cause.

But stampedes at religious sites in India are far from rare.

A crush at the world's largest religious festival in February killed 36 Hindu pilgrims.
